Fashion: Recall this…

August 3, 2012

Hands up who wants to see Jessica Biel’s fashion parade as she promotes her new flick Total Recall? Too bad, here it is anyway… Launching the movie at Comic-Con in San Diego last month Jess chose Thierry Mugler’s white PVC pencil skirt, which was nice and kinky to match the movie, but she paired it with a washed-out white T-shirt instead of the dramatic red structured shell top Mugler showed on the runway. The future Mrs Timberlake sure has a knack for dulling things down.

And talking about dull, that teal-blue-and-pink Roland Mouret “Angel” dress she wore to chat to Jay Leno on The Tonight Show last Wednesday did nothing for me. Or her, unfortunately.

She did a lot better on Jimmy Kimmel Live the next evening in this bright one-shoulder Preen Resort 2013 dress. In fact, Boring Biel even made the dress look more glamorous than the original model did because her stylist shortened the skirt and did a little something with her hair, at least. Maybe she just likes Kimmel more than Leno!

This weekend she and Colin Farrell officially launched the flick in L.A. and Jess chose a pretty sequinned knit dress from the master, Oscar de la Renta, for the photocall and news conference. Since the overall effect was a tad dull (once again) Jess brightened things up a bit with a gorgeous matte red lip…

The big Hollywood premiere was Tuesday evening and Jess selected a beeeeutiful cotton-candy-pink tailored strapless dress from the brand new Dior Couture Fall 2012 collection. At least, it was beeeeutiful on the runway. Too long, Jess! Or Jess’s stylist. Look how perfectly it hits the model between the knee and the ankle… And those massive Tom Binns necklace and earrings? This dress doesn’t need all that…

I won’t want to talk about this animal-print Giambattista Valli Pre-Fall 2012 thing at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. At all.

And at a special screening in New York last night Biel chose a white lace Elie Saab dress from his exquisite  Spring 2012 Couture collection. It was ethereally beautiful on the model on the runway but then Jess’s stylist went and lined it and added a fussy white lace shawl and turned it into a mother-of-the-bride outfit. Sigh.
